The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, together with public safety and our medical partner, has made the decision to cancel its full marathon on Sunday, May 19 due to flooding on the course. Marathoners will have the option to run the half.
The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. in the same location as the marathon (300 Block of Main Street, near the KI Convention Center). The course time limit is four hours. Marathoners can report to the same wave they were initially assigned to for the full distance. All finishers can collect a half marathon medal when they cross the finish line.
Marathon relay teams are invited to participate in the half marathon relay, exchanging at Sherwood Forest Park. Multiple team members can plan to run each leg and driving directions can be found here.
We remain in contact with the National Weather Service about lingering concerns for storms during the day. A flood warning is currently impacting our marathon course. Brown County Emergency Management reported rising water levels on the Fox and East Rivers in Green Bay. Rain moving into the area overnight is likely to lead to further rises in river levels. In addition strong northeast winds are inhibiting the movement of water from the Fox River into the Bay of Green Bay and result in ongoing flooding.
